College Success Plan, which has coached college students since 2009, won its first client through ChatGPT a little over three weeks after Suede's improvements to its website went live. A parent asked ChatGPT to rank executive-function coaching programs, called two or three of the firms it named, and signed with College Success Plan. Over the same period, ChatGPT began naming the firm 2.5 times as often when families asked general coaching questions that don't mention it by name, while Suede's AI agents took on its weekly blog, social, and newsletter drafting. By October 23, four families who found College Success Plan through AI assistants had called the firm, and two had signed up.

College Success Plan is a virtual academic and executive-function coaching firm that helps college students nationwide go from overwhelmed to confident, independent learners. Each student meets weekly with a hand-picked one-on-one coach, and parents receive weekly updates and end-of-term reports, alongside programs for incoming freshmen and career coaching. Suede Web Systems is a full-stack AI visibility and narrative-intelligence platform, and the firm now runs much of its marketing through it.

Families now ask AI first, and AI wasn't naming College Success Plan

College students and their parents — the firm's core clientele — increasingly begin web searches in AI assistants, but in July 2026 those assistants did not mention College Success Plan. According to a 2026 EAB survey, 57% of parents of high school students have used AI tools such as ChatGPT to evaluate colleges, and 46% of high school students now use them in their college search. "Our target personas are very much turning to AI as a first stop," Mary Pyle, College Success Plan's Senior Director of Business Operations, told Suede at the outset.

Suede's first AI visibility report bore that out:

  • ChatGPT named College Success Plan in 0 of 60 answers to the questions its clients ask, and cited its website 0 times.
  • College Success Plan was absent from more than 400 answers about executive-function and ADHD coaching in Suede's initial audit of relevant AI queries.
  • When College Success Plan did appear alongside a competitor, the competitor often won the AI recommendation. In 24 of 129 such AI responses, the assistant's recommendation pointed to a competitor's site.

College Success Plan's lean team needed more than another analytics tool or SEO contract — they needed something that would do the work for them. Carrie Bougie, the firm's Communications and Operations Manager, put it plainly: "We're looking for this to function less like a dashboard we have to interpret and more like a tool that tells us what to do next."

Phase one: Suede audited and fixed College Success Plan's existing site

Winning AI recommendations didn't mean rebuilding the site from scratch. Instead, Suede audited and implemented fixes on College Success Plan's existing Squarespace site so AI assistants could read it, attribute it, and cite it. Starting on August 12, Suede ran 500 monitored prompts daily through ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, written in the voices of the firm's prospective clients. Suede then audited the site against what those AI responses rewarded and delivered an eight-item fix list. College Success Plan approved it on August 24, and every fix was live by September 8.

Suede identified and implemented these fixes:

  • All 157 sitemap URLs repaired, so crawlers could find every page.
  • Authorship fixed on all 117 blog posts, with a founder credit added to the 19 posts AI assistants retrieved most.
  • 14 structured-data blocks describing the organization, its five services, and eight staff bios.
  • 183 image descriptions added across the blog, main pages, and coach bios.
  • 83 blog posts linked to the matching service pages, plus four broken links fixed.
  • The FAQ page rebuilt as 12 marked-up questions and answers, with an llms.txt file and a data-mining declaration added.
  • Titles and headings standardized across the site: 14 new descriptions and a top-level heading on eight pages that lacked one.

Squarespace's own SEO score for the site rose from 74 to 100, while Suede tracked the site's AI-readiness score daily in the Suede app.

Phase two: Suede publishes pages written to the questions families ask

Suede then wrote three pages that answer, in their opening lines, the questions families were putting to AI assistants. The pages went live between September 11 and September 23:

The third page draws on College Success Plan's own coaching results. "It's exciting to see our coaching results over the last several years come to life in this blog post," Mary Pyle wrote when it was published.

Phase three: Suede's AI agents took on the recurring work, while keeping College Success Plan's team in the loop

Since mid-September, Suede's AI agents have drafted College Success Plan's recurring content, and the firm's team reviews and publishes it. Six routines run on a schedule:

  • A weekly blog draft, prepared each Tuesday.
  • A blog-to-social pack that turns each post into LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram copy.
  • A monthly newsletter draft.
  • Daily news watches on higher education and executive function research, which flag stories worth a response.

The output shows up on College Success Plan's own channels. All five blog posts the firm published between September 17 and October 21 were drafted with Suede: four by its AI agents and one by the Suede team. Its team chose those four from the ten long-form drafts the agents produced, so a person decides what goes out. On LinkedIn, College Success Plan published seven posts in the same window after four months without one, and five of them went out exactly as Suede's agents drafted them. The firm already published a blog post every week; the AI now carries most of the drafting that maintains that pace. "We posted it to LinkedIn without edits as it was on brand," Mary Pyle wrote of one of the first social drafts.

Suede also integrated its AI agents with the tools College Success Plan already uses:

  • HubSpot. Suede's AI agents build College Success Plan's email campaigns in HubSpot from start to finish. A person on its team approves every send.
  • Claude. College Success Plan's team can query Suede directly from Claude through Suede's MCP connector, which gives Claude full parity with Suede's own agent tooling. They can pull answers from Suede, such as which of their pages perform best, without ever opening a dashboard.

The result: families found College Success Plan through AI and signed up

On October 1 — just eight weeks after starting work with Suede — College Success Plan reported its first client through ChatGPT, a little over three weeks after the site fixes went live. Mary Pyle described how it happened:

Mary Pyle

The parent asked ChatGPT to rank executive function coaching programs in order after she entered her son's profile […]. She then called two or three different companies and signed up with us.

More followed. By October 23, four families who found College Success Plan through AI assistants had called the firm, and two had signed up, according to College Success Plan. These clients reflect a measurable shift in how ChatGPT answers the questions families ask:

  • 2.5x more mentions. On an identical set of general questions that don't mention College Success Plan by name, ChatGPT's mentions of the firm rose from 35 to 87. Over the same windows, the share of those answers naming it rose from 0.57% to 1.26%.
  • A regular place on the coaching shortlist. When asked which academic coaching companies for college students are the best, ChatGPT now includes College Success Plan in 70% of its answers, often among the top five.

College Success Plan's overall visibility across all 500 prompts has held steady at about 3%. The gains are concentrated in ChatGPT answers to open questions, where a family that has never heard of the firm first meets it.

What other organizations can take from College Success Plan's results

College Success Plan's experience shows that a lean, two-person marketing team can earn a place in AI answers without a new website or a larger staff:

  • Fix the site you have first. Sitemaps, authorship, structured data, and internal links decide whether an AI assistant can use your pages at all.
  • Write to the question. Pages that answer a buyer's question in their first lines are the ones AI assistants quote.
  • Let AI agents carry the recurring work. Publishing on a steady schedule is easier to sustain when the first draft is already done.

How Suede measured College Success Plan's success

Suede measured College Success Plan's results the way its clients actually find it: through the questions students and parents put to AI assistants before they've heard of the firm.

  • The questions real families ask. Since August 12, Suede has run 500 prompts a day through ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews, written in the voices of the students and parents College Success Plan serves.
  • General questions that don't mention College Success Plan. The mention gains are measured on questions that don't include the firm's name, such as which coaching companies are best for college students, so every new mention is an AI assistant recommending College Success Plan to a family that hadn't asked about it.
  • A like-for-like comparison. The 2.5x figure compares ChatGPT's answers to the identical set of general questions in two windows, August 12–25 and October 7–20, 2026, with 6,888 answers in each. The change reflects what ChatGPT says, not a change in what Suede asked.
  • Visibility means named or cited. Suede counts an answer as visible when it names College Success Plan or cites one of its pages, the two ways an AI assistant sends a family the firm's way.
  • The shortlist, checked daily. The 70% figure covers 30 daily ChatGPT answers between September 21 and October 20, 2026 to the question of which academic coaching companies for college students are the best.
  • Clients College Success Plan traced to AI. The October client told College Success Plan how she found it, and the firm reports the four AI-sourced calls and two sign-ups from its own intake through October 23. These figures come from College Success Plan, not from Suede's estimates.
